meeting I’d want to stop you in your tracks On my street I'd try to nudge you to the edge Of the corner Then I’d pretend That we did an accidental meet That somehow destiny meant To find you my friend I’d drop my book Bend at the knees I’d apologize after I’d practiced my sexiest Apologies I’d glance quickly to see your face Crossing fingers behind my back Looking down shy I’d concentrate on your voice While I counted the sidewalks Wavy cracks The wind might flip the pages Across the space between Your breath and my name The sun might fade the creases Holding back the tide Surging within insane It might be silent Searching for sunshine words Pages wrinkle against Smiles Our only movement in The vowels shushing And then...
